Romance and mating across species can be understood in terms of a generalized system of ethics applicable to all living things. The wonderful thing about understanding ethics is it can help you look and feel extremely attractive. In this class we will discuss the underpinnings of generalized ethics and how derived rules for behavior can be applied to attract others, (and not feel like a sleaze while doing so). Don't expect to fall in love in this class. It's not as exciting as it sounds.

Logic from the dawn of philosophy has been presented as the primary form of analyzing and comprehending the world. We will derive predicate logic, linear logic, circular logic and more from this generalized form of logic.
H401: Generalized Metaphysics in Splash Fall 2016 (Nov. 05, 2016)
In this class we will consider the general framework of properties with which all living things engage. Following will be a discussion of the limits of any living thing given that framework, namely the inseparability of a living thing's constitution with it's inhabited world. Finally, we will derive a fundamental theory of value and from it a proposed basis for truth, morals and aesthetics.
H402: Generalized Ethics in Splash Fall 2016 (Nov. 05, 2016)
Starting with the fundamental definition of value, we will consider on of its areas of implication, the generalized framework of ethics for any given living thing. We will derive several practical rules, a generalized framework for wisdom, and a discussion of what constitutes the best life.
H403: Generalized Consciousness in Splash Fall 2016 (Nov. 05, 2016)
Here we will consider the general framework of consciousness for all possible living things. Considered is a theory of what constitutes consciousness as relates to the instantiation of value insofar as it relates to what defines living things, the presence of value perceptions in consciousness and aesthetics derived from that.
H346: On the Potential Physical Foundations of Morality in Splash Spring 2016 (Mar. 12, 2016)
Throughout most of history, it has been the case that discussions of morality have been restricted to the domains of philosophy and religion, but with advents in neuroscience, game theory, and evolutionary biology primarily, we are beginning to develop scientific answers to questions of right and wrong. This presents the necessity of a moral framework for understanding these developments. This class will look at the data impinging on moral thinking and examine potential ideas to incorporate this data into moral theory.
H371: Excerpts in Modern Moral Philosophy: Derek Parfit in Splash Spring 2016 (Mar. 12, 2016)
On What Matters by Derek Parfit has been described by some as a magnum opus of modern moral philosophy. In this short lecture, we will cover several interesting arguments toward supporting what he calls a "Non-Metaphysical Non-naturalist Cognitivism." Talking about this briefly we will also discuss various arguments he puts forward regarding subjectivism and its contradictions leading to a support of object-given theories; and finally I will talk about whatever other interesting topics I run into between now and then.
H309: On the Potential Physical Foundations of Morality in Splash Splash Fall 2015 (Nov. 14, 2015)
