Brief Biographical Sketch:

Hee Jin (Irene) Koo from Irvine, California, has a passion for teaching and volunteering. She began both ventures in the seventh grade, when she taught math to underserved students and hosted tournaments. Hee Jin believes that education is one of the most powerful tools to catalyze change, and coupled with her love for learning, she has been exposed to a variety of activities, ranging from Science Olympiad and science fair to journalism and Academic Decathlon. Currently, she is a part of CORE, Engineers without Borders, and 180 Degrees Social Consulting Group, and also works as an Academic Decathlon coach.

S446: Technology and Urban Sustainability in Splash Fall 2016 (Nov. 05, 2016)
Combining two prominent and rapidly developing fields, this course will focus on the intersections between technology and the environment. The lecture will explore advances that induce societies to progress towards sustainable living. Students will be exposed to local organizations that promote environmental responsibility, green communities around the globe, and cutting-edge technology that enable these changes.
