Brief Biographical Sketch:

Born in New York City, raised in Florida, I attended Amherst College for my undergraduate education and have almost finished my PhD work. My project uses fruit flies to investigate the signaling pathways involved in the host's response to infection. I have always loved the outdoors, and especially snorkeling over coral reefs. I traveled through nature preserves in South Africa doing ecology fieldwork for my study abroad. After I graduate, I hope to help document how humans are changing the environment. I love to cook & to read. I keep an indoor garden and always have interesting pets.
