Brief Biographical Sketch:

A junior at Macaulay Honors College, I have had an exposure to various people and professors who have broadened my scope of thinking. A proud brother of Kappa Sigma, I will rush you in a heartbeat--some of my greatest realizations were born out of this experience. I love science, particularly microbiology, neurology, and chemistry--I am a proponent of self-education. While I love to eat, I don't bite--I'm a "listener" in conversations. Being a classics major has convinced me that literature and the connections we form within it is one of the highest expressions of intellectual maturity. Being a biology major has convinced me that research is one of my passions in both its design and execution. Outside school, I love to participate in outreach activities, swim, and occasionally parkour (if my body is up to the task).

H176: Ancient Medicine and Magic: A Classical Perspective in Splash Spring 14 (Apr. 05, 2014)
Within the frame of our social understanding, medicine is an art form that transcends the bounds of culture. The Sumerians, the Egyptians, the Indians, the Native Americans all had different practices of medicine that reflected a certain cultural understanding and thought process. My class will focus on a very general, but structured study on Ancient Greek Medicine, from its competitive origins (in particular, its association with magic) to Galenic Medicine. Lastly, we will use this information to meditate on what is "modern medicine".
